Can oil pulling help with plaque reduction?

Oil pulling is trending, and it will continue to trend upwards thanks to its variety of powerful benefits.

In this episode, the Guru himself answers one of your most burning questions about oil pulling.

Question

Does oil pulling help with plaque reduction?

Guru Answer

Absolutely.

When you do oil pulling for 10 to 15 minutes, you are reducing the plaque in your oral cavity.

First, let's talk about what plaque is.

Bad bacteria reside in the mouth and continue to form biofilms on top of the enamel. This leads to a buildup of biofilm upon biofilm upon biofilm, which results in something called plaque.

The only way to remove plaque that has become multilayered is to remove it mechanically by brushing the teeth.

When plaque builds on top of itself, it becomes tartar.

At this point, the dentist will have to mechanically remove it because it's so strong. It's almost like a bulletproof jacket for bad bacteria.

Even a mouthwash can't impact it at that point.

So why do oil pulling?

There are a few oil pulling studies which prove that oil pulling can reduce plaque-related gingivitis. (1

When you do oil pulling, you basically weaken the bad bacteria's home, which enables you to brush off the plaque with a lot more ease.

However, don't forget to use a copper tongue scraper, which is currently included with our oil pulling oil.

Copper has been proven to have antibacterial properties.

You're helping to destroy the biofilm and get all of the gunk right off your tongue.

This way, you'll maintain more holistic oral health with lots of good bacteria and less of the bad bacteria.

This also means that the healthy fluoride in your mouth will be able to replicate and help your oral health, gut health, and overall health.

This gets you less plaque, better breath, whiter teeth, and overall better health.
