By inhaling just one drop of GuruNanda Eucalyptus Essential Oil I feel calmed and soothed. The cool, crisp fragrance reminds me of the park down the street from me where I grew up. I spent years playing under the eucalyptus trees at that park which is why whenever I inhale it now I feel so happy and at ease.
These days I use GuruNanda Eucalyptus essential oil to help ease congestion when I feel a cold coming on. The camphor properties in the oil soothe my lungs and the essential oil can even assist with congestion, as it is known to be a natural expectorant.
Historically, the eucalyptus tree is native to Tasmania and Australia. In traditional Aboriginal medicine, the leaves and oils were used for ages for ointments, tinctures and teas. The leaves and other parts of the tree have been used to treat several ailments ranging from fungal infections to headaches.
Whenever I feel like I might be getting a cold, I put one drop of GuruNanda eucalyptus essential oil along with a teaspoon of sweet almond oil as a carrier and apply it directly to my chest. This helps soothe my lungs and assists with expelling any mucus. If my sinuses get super stuffed up I bring a pot of water to a boil, transfer it to a nice sized bowl, add about 6 drops of eucalyptus essential oil to the water, get a nice big bath towel and cover my head as I lean over the bowl and breathe in the steam. This technique can be used for all ages with supervision of course. This steaming technique can also be used in the shower but it’s less effective as the direct steam coming directly from the bowl.
Here’s another cool use for eucalyptus… a friend of mine had received a notice from her daughter’s school that lice was spreading throughout the classrooms so she asked me for a natural solution. Lice do not like eucalyptus so as a precaution she simply added a drop of essential oil to her daughters shampoo and conditioner and then before she got on the school bus she put two drops in her hands, rubbed them together and rubbed her hands all throughout her daughter’s hair. Now if by chance, the little critters do try to make your child’s head their new home, a known natural way to get rid of them is to mix GuruNanda eucalyptus essential oil and GuruNanda tea tree essential oil together and apply to the scalp. Put on a snug fitting shower cap for 10 minutes and then comb through the hair. Much better than applying chemicals directly to a child’s head and smells much better too!
I personally carry GuruNanda eucalyptus essential oil with me to the movie theatre and apply it to my hair before I sit in the seats as a precaution – you just never know ;)
