Essential oil diffusers have become one of the most loved and effective ways to enjoy aromatherapy benefits. If you are new to diffusing essential oils and wondering how to use a diffuser, read on.
The most common type of diffuser for essential oils is the ultrasonic diffuser. This type uses ultrasonic waves within water to disperse essential oils into the air.
There are a wide variety of sizes, shapes and price ranges. Today’s article will teach you how to use and take care of diffusers.
How To Use An Essential Oil Diffuser
#1. Choose a Spot
Choose an open area in a room with a solid surface like a desk or table. You will need an outlet to plug in the diffuser. Since water is being used, it is good to have a placemat or towel down to avoid any water falling onto the selected surface.
One great spot would be a nightstand or family room on a solid shelf. For best use, avoid placing in direct sunlight or near a fan.
#2. Add Water
Now that you chose your favorite diffuser spot, fill your diffuser up until just below the max fill line of the water tank with clean tap water, preferably room temperature.
Most diffusers have a fill line on the inside of the water tank, refer to your diffuser manual for recommended water amount your diffuser requires.
*DO NOT OVERFILL or your diffuser may not run properly.
#3. Add Oils
-Next, add 3-10 drops of essential oils to the water, depending on the size of the diffuser. You can use a single essential oil like lavender, or an essential oil blend.
-6 drops are usually enough, but sometimes you may want more for a stronger scent. You can experiment with the essential oil amounts to see what you prefer.
#4. Turn It On
-Place the cap or top of diffuser back on. Turn it on. Set which features you would like if your model has options.
Not all diffusers work in the same way. Some might have additional options depending on the model you purchase. You might be able to adjust the length of time you want the diffuser on as well as different time cycles whether you want your diffuser to mist for 15 seconds or 30 seconds at a time, etc.
Most GuruNanda diffusers also have light options you can turn on for a display of colors or a solid color. These features vary widely depending on the specific model you choose.
